David Richardson MBE
David started teaching in 1999, fulfilling his dream to be a Physics teacher from his days at Bedford Modern School. Having gained a 1st in Physics with Study in Continental Europe from Bristol University, he spent time as a Youth Worker, and then completed his PGCE. Working at Gordano School in Portishead for 6 years, he moved to Clifton College in 2005. He has a passion for seeing pupils achieve at the highest level, pushing them to a deep understanding of the subject as well as gaining the top grades in their exams.
He is a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who enjoys seeing people engage with the world around them. Primarily he does this in the context of physics secondary education, but also on the national and international scene. He does shows for all ages, with audiences from 30-500, having been invited to the National Chinese Science Festival in Beijing in 2014.
His passion is to see people encouraged to ask questions about the universe, and to believe that they can understand it and make an impact on it.
His work in Africa, and his observations of the education systems in many countries, leads him to be convinced of the importance of practical work in the laboratory as part of all education systems.
In 2012 he was awarded an MBE for his work in Science Education in Africa.
